Introduction

Sir John Rutter is one of the most famous British composers of the 20th Century. Writing mainly choral works, he has written carols, anthems and larger works such as his Gloria and Requiem. His anthems are very popular and sung regularly by many church and secular choirs.

In celebration of John Rutter’s 80th birthday (24^th September), the following weekend on Sunday 28^th September at St Thomas’ Church in Goring-on-Thames, we are holding a singing workshop at 2pm (registration 1:45pm). During the afternoon, we will sing through several of Rutter’s most well-loved anthems and carols. There will be time for a cup of tea and light refreshments before a short concert at 4:30pm.

If you are a confident sight-reader or are familiar with Rutter’s anthems you can just take part in the workshop. If you would like to sing through the anthems a few extra times, join us from 7pm to 7:30pm any Friday evening in September (5^th, 12^th, 19^th and 27^th September).

The workshop will be led by Matt Foster, St Thomas’ music director, with Bryan Almond (Organist Emeritus) and Toby Best (Organ Scholar) accompanying.

Tickets for the choir workshop cost £10, (the concert will be free but donations towards our music outreach would be welcomed).

Registration and Payment

This is in 2 parts - registration of singers followed by payment:-

Important: Photos and videos are likely to be taken during the event and used on the church website and in articles for local news (e.g. the Goring Gap News, Henley Standard, etc.). Participants will not be named in such material. If you do not want to appear in photos and videos then make this clear during registration.

Registration. Details should be supplied, filling this form.
